Since it's inception, Volant Mills has served as the hub of commercial activity in this picturesque rural community along the banks of the Neshannock Creek in the rolling hills of western PA Amish country. Visit volantshops.com for information about this picturesque town.
Where once local farmers flocked to have their grist milled, shoppers now come to see this icon of rural Americana. Saved from the dilapidation forces of nature in 1984 and reinvented as a country mercantile shop, Volant Mills once again drew shoppers from near and far. Purchased in 2006 by a local community non-profit - The Volant Community Development Corp (VCDC).- the building is being renovated to preserve this historic structure and work is being done to restore it's grinding capability and to enhance it's use by generating electricity utilizing hydroelectric power.
Update: The VCDC has hired B.E.Hassett Millwrights and we hope to have our grinding machinery operational !

The funding for the repairs to the grinding equipment has been secured, but we need to install new gates on the millrace next to the dam that will control the flow of water. This will allow us to turn the turbine and once again see the water wheel turn. The cost for those gates is $9,000. PLEASE HELP US TURN THAT WHEEL!
